Our success is deeply rooted within the soil of good results
Our success is deeply rooted within the soil of good results
From day one, Entellic® was made to create applications that empower people to achieve
When it all started, in 1999, Entellic's mission stated: "Our goal is to stir the passion and creativity of others by constructing intelligent and extraordinary software tools. These tools must naturally assist in the creative work process while leading users into new levels of thinking." Today, Entellic achieves that mission by serving people in organizations with development and deployment of targeted custom workgroup applications. The proof of our success is demonstrated by two decades of client results. Tomorrow's next challenge continues to motivate us to build upon that success.
Who is Entellic? The 3 Ds
Entellic is a Washington State corporation owned by three brothers, Dan, Dale, and Duane Wilton.

Entellic's founders were producing apps using FileMaker® software as far back as the mid-1980's, long before the company began. Dan Wilton created a database to track locations, props, and actors for screenplays using FileMaker Plus. He submitted his app to Forethought, the publisher of FileMaker Plus, and won. His prize was a copy of PowerPoint, another app originally published by Forethought.
As people say, the rest is history.

Entellic's client base is nationwide. Therefore, most of our work is handled remotely by Entellic employees from offices throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Our expertise in building workgroup and remote applications is surpassed only by our ability to quickly ascertain difficult, technical work and workflows. One moment, our employees may be doing work in a nuclear processing environment. The next day they might be working with a botanist producing a plant progeny system, or creating an app for an owner of a local HVAC company.
We love the diversity of the work and the challenges presented by our client's workflows. We continue to be impressed with the way the FileMaker platform enables us to meet every challenge presented by our clients.
Today, Entellic personnel produce workgroup and mobile apps that integrate to and from multiple sources, including Oracle, MS-SQL, and Web Services (through APIs). Ask us about document control and distribution by integrating FileMaker apps with SharePoint.

There is really only one secret to success
Success is always about getting results. Results separate the theoretical from the practical. Results are the components of successful operations.
Over the decades, we've helped Fortune 50 companies, government contractors, small businesses, and educational enterprises achieve great success. To us, it's not the size or nature of the organization's work, it's the opportunity to improve the results of their mission.
What types of organizations has Entellic served over the past 20 years?
- Numerous Department of Energy contractors that specialize in radiological waste management, training management, quality assurance, and safety management.
- Multiple Pacific Northwest colleges, consortiums, and schools
- Fortune 50 financial institutions
- HVAC contractors
- Manufacturers
- Medical device manufacturers
- Remote medical services providers
- Farms and agricultural enterprises
As custom application specialists, Entellic personnel are known for our ability to quickly ascertain workflows and technical requirements.
It's always about your results
The value of a custom app exceeds the app itself. It's always about how well the app empowers work to be done. It's about how well the app enables workers to better understand and contribute to their workflow.
The ultimate question is "did the app capture and communicate information for better-informed decisions?" If so, that's the major part of success.
In other words, Entellic cares about the our clients' results far more than just building apps.
That's why our vision is more than simply constructing intelligent, extraordinary software tools: Our vision extends into the passion and creativity of your people. It pushes deeper…into helping people within an organization to new, better ways of getting results.
If that is what you'd like to see happen in your organization, contact us.

Two decades: A look back at Entellic
An idea before its time
In 1999, Dan Wilton contacted his brothers. He had an idea to build software that integrated linguistics, physics, graphics, and film scripts to automatically produce an animated storyboard for movies. We produced a business plan for FilmStudio®, a trademarked name for this software. Within the plan, each brother played a role in FilmStudio development.
The chase for venture capital was on. We were on our way.
However, just months into the project, the big "dot-bomb" hit. That's when the stock market dropped so substantially that venture capital dried up for new software ventures. The Wilton brothers came to the realization that FilmStudio would have to wait.
From this point forward, Entellic poured itself into solving technology and process problems for workgroups. Leveraging Dan's 25-plus years of banking experience, we secured contracts with a large financial institution to handle commercial operations…things like wire transfer systems and the workgroups behind those systems. Our primary role:
- Analysis of wire transfer systems technology, staffing, and integration from acquired banking systems.
- Project management for national wire transfer system implementation.
Despite our shift away from the FilmStudio project, our vision to use technology to get results for more targeted, specialized groups was a success. That vision remains intact today.
By the way, Dan's vision for FilmStudio is just now starting to see daylight. Disney and other creative companies, apart from Entellic, are beginning to produce software with features similar to those envisioned in the original FilmStudio software plan.

A greater focus on workgroups
As Entellic's focus on workgroups expanded, The FileMaker platform became our core toolset to get results. We ventured beyond financial institutions. Indeed, our client base broadened to include a variety of industries and business models.
Here are just a few descriptions of Entellic's work by 2006:

Entellic becomes a resource to DOE contractors
By 2006, Entellic developed relationships with Department of Energy (DOE) contractors doing work primarily in the area of Training Management.
Our first job was replacing a training management system that would include online registration and handled invoicing for completed training. Another DOE training contractor put us to work integrating Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) document scanning systems.
We initiated, and continue to support, Safety Culture Work Environment (SCWE) analytics systems at the Hanford site.
Over time, our DOE work required the creation of radiological waste management applications.
We developed our first waste records system in fewer than 90 days. It immediately reduced the time required during an audit to produce waste records from two days to only 15 minutes.
This waste records system was one component to a comprehensive radiological waste inventory and control system (WICS) that has been highlighted, year after year, as best-in-class throughout the DOE complex.
Originally, WICS incorporated simple barcode scanners to assure the accuracy of container movement. Today, it uses iOS devices for scanning and higher levels of control and integration.
Since 2006, Entellic has deployed more than 50 software applications within various DOE sites.
A few deployed systems include:
- Waste Inventory Control System (WICS)
- Waste Records Management System
- Waste Issues Management System
- Generator Waste Acceptance System
- Operational Surveillance System
- Document Control and Records Management system
- Graded Approach System
- Quality Inspection System
- Assessments Management System
- Lessons Learned System
- Safety Observation Reporting
- Approved Suppliers
- Asset Management
- Deficiency Reporting
- Management Items (Internal and External)
- Chemical Inventory
and dozens more!

Advancing Software Quality Assurance (SQA)
As Entellic supported more clients in highly regulated environments, its drive to assuring quality became more than a requirement; it became a passion.
For example, DOE Order 414.1D incorporates SQA requirements, including Nuclear Quality Assurance mandates, for Department of Energy contractors,
Entellic personnel helped DOE contractors write SQA plans and procedures to assist in compliance with these mandates.
In equal importance, Entellic produced and implemented a software management system that helps DOE contractors communicate software changes and document quality results.
The integration of these SQA systems not only streamlined the process and work relating to application development, it also helped demonstrate compliance and effectiveness during audits and assessments.
Today, Entellic continues to emphasize SQA first and last to support highly regulated environments.
A few things that RemoteSQA can accomplish:
- Grades software
- Manages change requests
- Prioritizes design and development
- Builds and communicates requirements
- Creates and manages validation and verification testing
- Traces test results back through design to requirements
- Auto-generates required documentation (work requests, design documents, requirements matrices, test plans and results)
