Hops production management and tracking
Once the hops crop comes in, the process of drying, grading, processing, and packaging presents a workflow data challenge: Dozens of workers spread throughout several buildings execute numerous tasks that require real-time updates and instant documentation.
Equally important is that this year's crop is the result of years of planning, management, and contracting to assure its marketability.
HopsMaster is Roy Farms' custom application to manage hops, from planning, processing, and inventory…all the way through delivery. As a server-based app, HopsMaster opens in both English and Spanish on workstations or on mobile tablets connected by Wi-Fi.
Each tablet can scan product and employee badge barcodes to help control and verify entry. Records, tickets, test results, work orders, customer orders…they are all available to qualified users from any device.
HopsMaster provides the traceability, accountability, and documentation necessary to assure compliance and quality control.

The app consists of a primary, server-based system that documents all dates, images, and documents related to each hire. A complementary app operates on tablets in the field, without a continuous connection to to the server app.
Here are a few of the things RFpersonnel handles remotely in the field:
- Initial entry of worker information, to be used in various forms and documents.
- Worker photos and images of credentials are captured.
- I-9 Homeland Security forms, completed automatically, signed by the worker.
- W-4 forms, completed and signed by the worker.
- State farm worker agreements completed and signed by the worker and by Roy Farms authority.
- PDF of Roy Farms Handbook for reading followed by a signed acknowledgement by the worker.
When the remote app comes into range to connect, information syncs to and from the server app. PDF documents, including signatures, are transferred and stored in protected network file locations. New hire Information is updated to and from payroll systems. Badges are generated, including barcodes for scanning in various payroll field apps. And, updates from RFpersonnel transfer back to the remote app.
